Currently due to the Covid pandemic there are altered arrangements for appointments.
Appointments can be booked by phoning the surgery. Please avoid trying to come to the surgery to book an appointment unless you do not have access to a telephone. GP appointments face to face have continued throughout the pandemic but in most cases we will initially arrange for a telephone consultation with a GP. If the problem can be dealt with over the phone then we will try to do so. If it is felt that a physical assessment or face-to-face consultation is needed then this will be arranged. Appointment availability is variable but most patients are still having their problem dealt with on the day they phone up.
To try to add additional additional options during the current time NHS Ayrshire and Arran have facilitated two novel ways of consulting - by video link and by email. Not all GPs are available to do these consultations currently but the systems are running
To book a video consultation please phone up reception in the usual way. The sound quality in video consultations is not great and they are not particularly useful for examining patients so in most cases we would at least recommend a telephone consultation initially. Once you have booked a video consultation please click here at the appointed time to enter our video waiting room and a GP will start up the consultation once the previous patient has been dealt with.
We are starting to offer email consultations now also, as well as a service to allow you to obtain information on common health conditions. To use this service please click here to open a consultation. Please note that this service may only be used by registered patients of Taiglum Practice. This service is not suitable for use in an emergency - if you are ill please phone the practice or the out of hours service on 111 if the practice is closed. Any information available is for guidance only and should not be regarded as a replacement for a GP consultation if you are unwell.
Consultations are by appointment only and can be arranged at the reception desks or by telephone. Appointments are allocated at 10-minute intervals. If, however, you feel you need longer with the doctor, please ask the receptionist for a double appointment. This will prevent surgeries running late.

Patients are encouraged to see the doctor of their choice, but on occasions when this is not possible, another partner will be available for consultations. There may be a delay before you can obtain a routine appointment with the doctor of your choice. We operate an advanced access appointments system, which means that a lot of our appointments can be booked on the day, however there are a number of appointments which may be pre-booked.
Consulting your Doctor
You may consult any doctor you wish. Our aim is to give you an appointment within 48 hours with a member of the practice team; you may have to wait longer to see a specific person. If you require an urgent appointment, please make the reception staff aware of this. Emergencies are always seen on the same day. If you cannot attend your appointment please telephone and cancel. Telephones are normally manned between 8.15am and 5.00pm, Monday to Friday. Consultation is by appointment at all surgeries. The normal consulting times are outlined below, but may change due to GP availability
